This is among my most favorite Christian songs. This version.

Holy Spirit Rain Down by Hillsong

Now that we have a new puppy SOMEBODY has to get up with him in the morning, take him out, feed him, etc.

This morning I was the lucky one. But the lucky one HAS to keep him quiet, which was actually working pretty well this morning!

I was standing at the kitchen counter with Greyson playing quietly at my feet when I felt compelled to lift my hands up in praise to God for his goodness.

This song, which we used to sing at church but I haven’t heard in a long time, immediately came to my mind.

Dear Younger Me by Mercy Me

I heard this song on Word FM this morning and it so resonates! Not only would I love to have committed my youth to Jesus and saved myself so much heartache, but I wish I had understood my true value long before I was in my 40’s.

Brandon Heath & Sawyer Brown

I spent the first half of my life really disliking people.

“I hate people!” would effortlessly roll off my lips. (I cringe just thinking about it now.)

Then I met Jesus. And He began to develop in me a love for HIS people, through HIS eyes.

These two videos reflect that desire to see people through the Maker’s eyes.

The first is Give Me Your Eyes by Brandon Heath:

As I was learning to love people, I tried to teach my girls to remember that when someone is being mean or rude or angry, we don’t know what they are going through in their personal life or what they are experiencing on the inside, so we should strive to show grace.

And the more we understand how much grace God extends to us, the easier it is to extend it to others.

I find the next video to be very impactful in this area.

They Don’t Understand by Sawyer Brown:

He Is With You by Mandisa

Yesterday a friend and I were conversing via text and she said to me, “He is with you.” I’ve been singing this song ever since and it is so precious.

First you will see my favorite video version of this song. I love to watch the faces and feel the emotions of the actors in it.

However, the first video glitches a handful of times. This is Mandisa’s official video on her official YouTube channel. Why they haven’t fixed the video is beyond me, but the problem doesn’t affect how much I love this version.

Because of the glitching I’ve included another version in the second video below.

Mom, Did You Ever Tire Of Taking Care Of Us?

Now that’s a loaded question! And that was the question I was asked this morning by my oldest daughter.

She has gotten a puppy named Greyson. And since she’s still living at home, that means we ALL have gotten a puppy named Greyson!

And it has absolutely been a team effort! We can’t imagine life without him but oh my is he a handful!

Going back to the question ~ did I ever tire of taking care of my children?

You’re asking a mom who has struggled with chronic fatigue??

Here is my answer:

I tired from the physical load it placed on my already tired body, and I tired of all the arguing and complaining and the physical and mental load that placed on my body, but I never tire of being a mother and being with my children, and molding and shaping their character to reflect Jesus, as I’m learning to do the same.

Never.

And if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn’t hesitate for a moment to have exactly my children at exactly the time I did, because it was God’s timing. It has been a faith walk and it has been worth every moment!

However…

I wish I had known when my children were young many of the techniques I know now. It would have eased the load and saved much anguish in the home.

When she asked me the question, I knew it was a perfect time to share two videos from Michelle Duggar that I have learned from and have been wanting to share.

Here’s the question I ask people when I show them the first video…

“As you watch this video, how long does it take until you start feeling anxious?”

My daughter said she started feeling anxious immediately!

When I first saw it, I started feeling stressed about 20 seconds into it. I can now watch the entire video without any stress and can marvel at how Mrs. Duggar manages to maintain that countenance all day, every day, for years. I know she isn’t perfect, but she is amazing! She truly has a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight (1 Pt 3:4). This video has helped me to stay calm and “go flat-line” when dealing with a difficult child.
